Native of Chartres (France), Sophie Delangle-Carton has been teaching French in Cork since 1997. Mother of three, and mad about books, she set up a French Children Library for EFC -Enfants Francophones de Cork, a local organisation run by enthusiastic parents. In that role, and with the help of the French government she launched a collection of 1500 children books in Tigh Fili in 2003. The French library moved then to Grand Parade City Library in 2007. In collaboration with Cork Cities Libraries she ran a lot of cultural workshops on Tintin, Asterix, Jules Verne.. So this opening today represents a return of the collection to its spiritual home. Long live the books….
