Eva Meijer is a philosopher, writer, visual artist, and singer-songwriter. They wrote over twenty books: novels, philosophical essays, poetry and academic monographs, including the international bestsellers Animal Languages and Bird Cottage. Their work has been translated into more than twenty languages. Recurring themes are language, politics and nonhuman animals. Meijer works at the University of Amsterdam as a postdoctoral researcher. They also write essays and columns for Dutch newspapers, and are a member of the Multispecies Collective, a multispecies art collective. Recent books in English include the philosophical essay Multispecies Assemblies (2025) and the novel Sea Now (2025).
