Madeleine D’Arcy lives in Cork City, Ireland, with her husband and son. Formerly a solicitor, she now writes fiction.  Her début short story collection, Waiting For The Bullet (Doire Press, 2014), won the Edge Hill Readers’ Choice Prize 2015 (UK).  In 2010 she received the Hennessy Literary Awards for First Fiction and New Irish Writer.

She holds an MA in Creative Writing (First Class Honours) from UCC.

Her second book, a linked short story collection, is scheduled for publication in 2021.
She has recently completed a novel.  

With fellow-writer Danielle McLaughlin, she co-hosts Fiction at the Friary, a regular free monthly event in Cork City.
