Cónal Creedon and John Spillane

April 25th in Callanan’s promises to be a very special afternoon. John Spillane and Cónal Creedon require little by way of introduction. Both Cónal and John’s creative output is firmly rooted in people, place and story. Their music and spoken word collaborations span decades, captivating audiences from Cork to Shanghai to Belfast and many points in between.

John Spillane has an extensive recording catalogue stretching from the late ‘90s to his most artistically ambitious work to date, the opera: Fíoruisce – The Legend of the Lough. Among his many accolades John is a two-time Meteor Award winner and honoured with ‘Album of The Year’ at the RTÉ Folk Awards.

In 2025, Cónal Creedon became the first Irish artist to receive the prestigious World Cultural Council – Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts. Other recognition for Cónal’s contribution to the Arts include The Princess Grace Award [Monaco], The Irish American Lit Award, The IP Gold Award 2023 [USA], Cork One City One Book, The Eric Hoffer Award [USA].
